Bluetooth wireless communications technology - cell phones

Bluetooth technology has been a hot tech topic for many years now, and its certainly no surprise that cellular phones were an early and big benefactor of the technology. The technology behind bluetooth allows devices to be easily connected without the need of cables. In our highly mobile society, this amounts to a huge benefit for users. One of the most obvious benefits of a bluetooth enabled cell phone is the ability to use a blue tooth based wireless headset with it. For those doing business (or just chatting) while driving, the ability to use a wireless headset is not only much safer, butalso may help avoid a traffic citation in many localities. The uses however go well beyond this, and when used to its fullest, a blue tooth cell phone is a beneficial part of any personal office.

Sharing Information

The primary purpose of blue tooth technology is to transmit information wirelessly, so one of the more obvious things that you can use your phone for is to share information between multiple devices. Prior to bluetooth technology, if you wanted to share contact information with a business associate from a cell phone, the other individual had to either manually enter information, or use IR technology. IR, or infrared technology, required the two phone be pointed at each other just right to initiate a transfer, which was often less than convenient. Blue tooth makes short-range transmissions a snap; sharing information between two blue tooth cell phones is considerably easier than it was without this technology.

Keeping In Sync

The benefits of sharing information go beyond just giving your phone number to a friend. With a blue tooth cell phone and the right software, useful information such as your address book, and daily calendar can be kept in sync with each other, which will ensure that the information you want is where you need it, whether it’s on your PDA, your phone, or on your office computer. For someone who takes his work home or needs to collaborate with others often, using a blue tooth cell phone as a way to store and move data can be just the thing for the home office.

Saving those Pictures

Been trying to figure out how to get those pictures from your cell phone camera on to your computer? The non bluetooth method involves emailing from your camera to yourself. (and paying the charges fro the data transfer) With a bluetooth enabled cell phone, its as easy as moving around any other data. By adding a bluetooth adapter to your computer, your cell phone photos can be painlessly and quickly transferred on to your hard drive. And, of course, the computers bluetooth adapter is not limited to your cell phone. The same adapter can be used to transfer data from any bluetooth enabled source as well as operate peripheral bluetooth enabled devices.
